Memories of childhood.

Smell of Apple Pie cooking in the oven. Making my own little pie crust goodies from leftover dough. The feel and fragrance of sun dried sheets, towels and clothes.

Three channels on the TV. Black and White no less. No video games, I pads, Computers, I phones. Just us and our imagination, card games, toys, board games, climbing trees, riding bikes, making forts etc.

Sitting down to eat and actually talking about our days at school, Dads day at work, and what Mom did during the day and what happened on the soap operas. It was a time of simplicity. Family outings, family games, cooking together, cleaning together.

I think about our society today and wonder if everything was closed on Sundays, and each household put away all there technology for two hours every night and just spent quality time together, maybe even an hour.
What if all children felt comfortable asking there parents to talk and not told "We will talk later, I am busy"
What if all parents read to there children before bed, each expressed love to one another.
What if we tried to be good parents to our kids and less of trying to be there friends.

The simple things in life can be the difference in our future. In our children's future.
When was the last time you hugged your child or parent and said " I love you"?
When was the last time you told them you appreciate them?

Don't dwell on the past and what you didn't do, or mistakes you made. Change today, change your future.

Very tired. Opened up at 7AM. worked till 3:30 with a two hour break from 10 to 12, so I could meet one of my daughters at a furniture place to look and give my opinion of a sectional she was interested in. Later went to U.S. Airways to pick up our ice cream catering station, then off to a neighborhood in District 21 to knock on some doors for Venessa.

It is nice to still feel that even as my children get older that I can still offer my years of experience to help them. Because I did have my own Interior Design Business, I was able to learn the good the bad and the ugly about furniture.

We proceeded to enter the furniture store where she showed me the sectional. I pointed out that even though the piece looked really nice as you looked at it, that the workmanship was below average. You cold feel the staples through the leather at the sides and back of the piece. It had no padding over the wood frame. It only had a one year warranty.

We then went a few doors down to another furniture store where we found a one that was very well made, all padded over the construction, and a lifetime warranty. It happened to be on sale as the other one was too. The difference in price was only a little more, and well worth it.

You know what's coming, if you know me. My analogy. Just because something appears to look good on the outside, doesn't mean that it is equal on the inside. As we take a look at ourselves, are we the same person inside and out? When we meet someone new, don't always think you know what is on the inside. It works both ways. Especially when young people are dating. they think that if they are not immediately attracted to a person that they should not date them. How many times have you met someone that may be kind of a plain Jane, and as you get to know them over time, they become beautiful.

We should not put on a false exterior, or try to be like someone else. It is fine to admire and emulate others. But be yourself. Love yourself. If you take pride in the way you look, dress and act, then the inside of you will be good and honest. Your family and friends will love you for who you are.

Food and Family

Wow, who has time to read every ones blogs let alone have time to keep upon writing our own, plus face book, journal writing, e mails,. I don't know if anyone even reads this. Probably not since it has been quite a long time since I started this.

Anna,my youngest left with husband Logan this morning at 4 am, a couple of months in Idaho before moving to New Zea land.

I have been quite impressed with my children and their cooking abilities. It started with my mom, their Grandma. Learning to make up things as you go, reinventing food, altering recipes and just having fun cooking. Sunday Jessica, my 2 nd daughter made Aussie Chicken, Anna made Strawberries stuffed with mars capon cheese and real whip cream, Ice Box cake, chocolate wafer cookies, frosted individually with real whipping cream, then frosted again after put together. She also made her unbelievable yams. Scott, my Son in Law made a home made apple pie( he is an amazing dessert chef) his wife, my daughter Venessa can really put together some great recipies from Greek, Indian, German, Mexican, Italian, her dishes are always an adventure.

My sons are great cooks too. Of course growing up in the resturant business they would be. They are inventors of food masterpieces that sometimes you are not sure to eat or take a picture.

I love to cook. I enjoy making people happy with the tastes of good food. Some day I hope to write a book with all my recipies that I have come up with, and mix in a little fun times of family and crazy things we have done.

I know my grammer and spelling is not always the best. sorry

What would you like to know?
